Award winning recording artist DeWayne Woods is kicking off the New Year with a rousing new anthem, “Never Be The Same,” his first radio single in three years. The song reunites Woods with Maroon 5’s P.J. Morton who composed and produced Wood’s 2007 breakthrough radio smash, “Let Go.” Woods will perform and talk about the song during an online chat with “Entertainment Tonight” later this month.

However, the inspiring anthem isn’t the only big news in Woods’ life. He and his business partner/manager, Wade Jordan, have secured distribution for their Soul Therapy Music Group with Central South Distribution in Nashville, TN. Woods is in the studio working on the partnership’s first offering and his third CD that will feature a collaboration with legendary R&B band Mint Condition of “What Kind of Man Would I Be?” and “Breakin’ My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)” fame.

“ P.J. was instrumental in creating a voice for me and he keeps helping to define that voice,” Woods says of the reunion with Morton. “We have such great chemistry like we did on `Let Go.’” The song is positioned for airplay on both Gospel and Urban AC radio formats. “The deal with Central South Distribution is the perfect marriage for Soul Therapy Music Group to make inspirational yet out-of-the-box music,” says Jordan. “And having the opportunity to work with an industry legend like Vicki Mack and a major businessman and salesman like Chuck Adams is just huge.”

While the as yet untitled album is still in its embryonic stage, Soul Therapy has already enlisted Gerald Haddon who produced Isaac Carree’s #1 hit “In The Middle” and Houston-based producer, Zeke Listenbee, who has written for Dorinda Clark Cole, to contribute to the set. “He’s just an amazing talent,” Woods says of the latter. “We’re still figuring everything out,” Jordan says of the album’s evolution. “We’re not rushing anything. We’re setting this project up to have a major impact.” The song is currently available on iTunes at http://smarturl.it/gyifl4

A Kansas City, MO native, Woods began his career as a background vocalist for the likes of Celine Dion, Kirk Whalum and John P. Kee. He signed with the Quietwater label in 2006 under the guidance of executive producer Donald Lawrence and released his debut CD “Introducing DeWayne Woods & When Singers Meet” that garnered the Top 5 radio smash “Let Go” that was named Song of the Year and Urban Inspirational Single of the Year in the 2008 Stellar Awards.  Woods also walked away with New Artist of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year Stellar Awards. His sophomore “My Life’s Lyric” CD debuted at #3 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart and spawned the radio hit “Living on the Top.” Last year, Woods made headlines when he was featured in a national PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) media campaign targeting animal cruelty.
